User generated art by Red Bull

April 1, 2008 - 8:08 am No Comments

Creating a different experience with the brand has always been one of Red Bull’s strong points (see Red Bull Flugtag- also in Romania for 2 years now). Therefore, Red Bull has announced yet another challenge for consumers and artists: create a work of art using Red Bull cans. You can see some of the pieces below and find out more information here.

Short note- Nokia

March 28, 2008 - 1:38 pm No Comments

Yet another great campaign I heard of today.

,,Nokia has grabbed four bloggers and sent them around the world with an N82 series phone (equipped with nowt but its camera, video, web, GPS and their wits).

By all accounts, these “Urbanista Diaries” will record the correspondents’ travels, the people they meet, the cool stuff that they do. All posted online, of course.”

Thanks to Spinning around.

Cyber meeting 28.03

March 28, 2008 - 9:24 am No Comments

Starting with this post, we are going to make a brief report of our meetings at the Kindergarten and try to add any useful information we can find.

Yesterday’s meeting was meant to be hosted by Bogdan Nitu, but he couldn’t make it and we were pleased to hear that Teodora Migdalovici will have a talk with us.

We talked about milestones in digital advertising, such as the Heidies.com project from Diesel, Burger King’s at that time revolutionary Subservient Chicken campaign, Nike + -now one of the classic case studies, Dove’s Evolution Cannes winner campaign and the great Honda ads.

Even though the term was never mentioned, we started the discussion about ,,branded utility” and I remembered I came across a great presentation by Paul Isakson. You can enjoy it here.

Scamp- true copywriter blogging

March 27, 2008 - 9:08 pm No Comments

I could have just added Scamp in our blogroll, but I think it’s worth a post.

Written in the style of good advertising books, with rich insights and honest gathering of thoughts, Scamp is one of the blogs where the posts are very useful, even though I don’t always agree with the opinions given.

I mostly admire the consistency in posting advertising tips (now reaching no 45- ,,How to write copy“). Scamp is definitely one of the best advertising blog I read.

Coming back to the post quoted above, do you think copy is still needed in advertising or it’s just another one of the noises in communication?

Even though I believe in strong visual advertising statements, I think a good copy is needed when you create a story around a product/service. Scamp thinks copy is needed only when you want your communication to appear serious.

What are your thoughts on this?

Design conference and contest

March 25, 2008 - 8:16 pm No Comments

Today I’ve come across a very interesting poster on yazee artz and I am now wondering how come I haven’t heard of this before. That’s what happens when good projects aren’t communicated properly, I guess.

The Filter Design Competition has just announced it’s finalists for 3 categories - Graphic Design, Industrial Design and Auto Design and opened 3 more - Freestyle, Packaging and Web design.

Moreover, on the 26th and 27th of March Graphic Design conferences and workshops will be held at the Czech Center.
